So, I'm in a class labeled English 335. I think it's American Romanticism and Realism or some nonsense, but we are reading John Steinbeck's "Travels with Charley In Search of America". I am taking another class, in which Steinbeck is one of the three authors we study for the semester. This book is far better, in my opinion, than his more widely acclaimed works. There are a few quotes that I really liked. When something makes me put the book down and mull over the meaning of the words I know it has done what the author intended it to do. Here are just a few of the quotes.
"When I was young and the urge to be someplace else was on me, I was assured by mature people that maturity would cure the itch."
"Perhaps my greatest wisdom is the knowledge that I do not know."
"I further believe that personality seeps into walls and is slowly released."
If you haven't read this book, do it. It's slow, but it will make you want to go on an adventure.
